As a lecturer, what I wanted to do is to teach and share new knowledge with the students. At the same time, I am learning new things from them too. It is a two way communications of giving and receiving information.
On the whole, my teaching will be based on 3 significant ends:
1) The students will get the utmost understanding on what they have learned.
2) The students will enjoyed the entire learning processes and love what they have learned.
3) The students will have the ability to apply what they have learned in the actual life.
To gain all the objectives:
1) I will apply the most relevant methods in lecture hours, depending on type and tendency of student’s behavior and interest. The methods will include:
a- Informative and interactive slides.
The slides will include clear definition, facts and examples of the topic. Yet, it is simple and beneficial for the students to understand and remembers the important points. The slides will also include pictures, figures and videos for clear and better understanding. Besides, I will include additional knowledge, which may not be crucial for their exams, but it may help them to relate what they have learned with current situation.
b- Q & A session.
I will give the students time for Q & A session. During this time, they can discuss among themselves, as well as they can ask and interact with me for further clarification on the topics learned.
c- Quizzes and tests.
Quizzes and tests will be done to test their understanding of the topics. It includes past years questions, books as well as from my own initiatives. It will also help them to get the clear picture on type of question in the real examination.
d- Presentations.
Presentations will be done to enhance and to help them to develop their soft skills such as, the ability to give public speaking, to discuss among colleagues, to do brainstorming, to induce their critical and analytical thinking, as well as to work under pressures. Besides these, there are a lot more things that they could learn from doing the presentation.
2) Besides focusing on the lecture methods, the students can also meet me personally to discuss about their subject, if they are not comfortable to ask and to discuss in crowds.
As a conclusion, in my point of view, being a lecturer is not only about delivering knowledge and ensures that the students will pass their exams with flying colors. A lecturer is also accountable to teach and to ensure that the student will develop good behavior and good relationship with the God, their parents and family, their lecturers, their friends as well as their whole environments. A lecturer must also show good attitude because they are actually a role model to the students.
